The brand Motorola might be owned by Lenovo but it is stilled managed by moto team and therefore its past good impressions are still found.
Today the phone I am going to talk is themoto z play available at about 25k Indian rupees but the most important thing about is the innovative form factor which supports modules.
Lets talk about it,
Speciality: This device is really a milestone in the tech world due to its ability to support modules known as moto mods. However, these mods should be purchased separately and is only the downside as the cost too high but if you can get one of those you will definitely be happy. Many modules such as a camera module, a speaker module, a projector module and few more are available. However my favourite was the camera mod from Hasselblad which has its own optical zoom capable lens with xenon flash and own battery to prevent the phones battery from draining. Surely all these modules takes the game to a next level.
Build: The device is build from metal and glass which is termed to be gorilla glass but the device weights fairly low which is a very good. The body is of metal chassis and the glass back embedded into it. This type of build quality provides a premium feel to it. However there is a camera hump at the back which is a big circle including the primary camera and the flash.
Display: The display is a 1080p full HD amoled panel with good colour reproduction and good sunlight visibility. The amoled display can be tweaked in settings to provide the best outcomes possible.
Battery: Battery is a 3500 mah in capacity and the phone supports quick charge and does come with a turbo charger included. The battery life is amazing it lasts a full day under heavy usage.
Processor: The main reason behind the awesome battery life is the snapdragon 625 octacore Soc which is power efficient than its brother processors i.e. the snapdragon 650 and 652 Soc. Although it might lag behind in benchmark between the 650 and 652 in the moto z its not noticeable, it can even rival most low price 650 devices in daily performance.
This processor is based on A53 architecture and comes with adreno 506 G.P.U. and 3GB of ram
Gamming: The G.P.U. adreno 506 on the moto z with the 1080p display manages a very good frame rate which results in a lag free gamming experience with heavy games although you might notice only a few glitch in high graphics game but its all right considering the overall performance. The heat distribution is also managed very well.
Camera: The device comes with a 16 MP primary camera and is known to capture good images but it might slightly suffer in low light unless you go for the camera module. It can record videos upto 4K and is of good quality but, lacks optical image stabilisation. It also has a 5mp front camera good for selfies.
Sensors: Being a good phone from a famed manufacturer it comes equipped wit all sensors such as magnetic, compass, gyroscope etc. which helps in experiencing a good rich virtual reality via a good virtual reality glasses.
Network and calls: Network reception is awesome and supports VOLTE. It also has a proper dual sim slot. Sound reception is good.
Basic features: It includes a very responsive fingerprint sensor on the front below the display. It includes a single front speaker which is good but could have been better located on the ear piece which is does prevent from the sound getting covered as seen in phones with back facing speaker.
It also includes a separate 3.5 mm audio jack although it contains a USB type c connector and luckily the sound clarity is awesome. It also includes moto display and moto gestures which are quite useful.
Moto India is providing good after sales service and is also the company to provide fastest android updates. Also the overall interface and performance remains smooth due to running of almost stock android.
Conclusion: Moto Z play at Rs25000 is an amazing phone with good features and innovative modular support, it looks premium, performs quite well and if you are in the market to buy a phone in this rang you should definitely get this
