Motorola’s new’Z series’ has been designed to provide high-end, modular smartphone experience. The new Moto Z is extremely slim, measuring just about 5.2 mm around the waist. This ultra-slim profile results in a few compromises, but was a clear-cut necessity for Motorola’s Modular concept. Let’s first talk about Moto Mods.
Moto Mods are accessories that magnetically cling on the back of Moto Z and Z Force, evening out the camera bump in the process, while simultaneously adding an extra functionality or new aesthetics to the phone. For instance, you can clip the battery Mod for some added battery, A JBL Bluetooth Speaker Mod for richer audio and so on. These Mods are expensive, but Motorola assures that they will be compatible with future generation models as well. Moto Mods communicate with Moto Z using 16 gold pogo pins on the rear and are easy to configure(Unlike LG, you won’t have to power-off your phone).
Talking of other Moto Z features, the handset includes a 5.5 inch AMOLED QHD display and is powered by Snapdragon 820 beast paired with 4GB LPDDR3 RAM and 32GB/64GB storage.
Whether you love it or hate it, the Moto Z ditches 3.5 mm audio jack for the latest zeitgeist, i.e. USB Type C audio. Other notable features include 13MP rear camera with OIS and PDAF, 5MP selfie shooter, MicroSD card support, Latest Android Marshmallow software, USB Type C port, square fingerprint sensor below the display and a modest 2600 mAh battery.
