Motorola may top the list in us mobile subscribers but in india they need to create a more reliable, cost effective collection which is also value for money. Let me take you step by step as to why my buying this phone is the biggest regret i have had on any of the purchases i have made so far:-
I was in a great mood to shell out 6-7k or so to buy myself a stylish phone-that was my biggest pull towards the motorola collection..i wish i had a mobile phone purchase counselor with me at that time...
The style-silver finish but only in the mobile showroom!!
Zn200 is a slider phone and has a silver finish at the back which was looking attractive under those white lights that the mobile showrooms have-it was however quite normal when i came home and saw it. 2mp camera, 2gb memory, bluetooth, internet connectivity and a descent sized mobile screen. Well, it was all i wanted in a phone and this one had to until one day.
The backpanel crisis:
The showroom guy never shared with me that the motorola service centers are a non existent entity!! I somehow had these backpanel crisis(something that can hardly happen to a nokia, samsung or even reliance!!). My phone went backless(that was no fashion btw) as the back cover of my moto yuva phone went absconding!! And that too within the 3 month of my purchase. Though i started facing this problem in the second month that this lose thing used to come out so casually (it used to be so embarrassing when this happened during client meetings.
The hunt
I exhausted almost all the mobile repairing shop obviously including the one from where i purchased this phone(i remember he reacted to my request with a long face. As if moto sold was moto forgotten-south delhi, east delhi and even west delhi) but never found even a single nod to the fact that these guys could source this backpanel from anywhere. The whole of nehru place said no to me ;(((
400 bucks?? Excuse me!!
Finally, i somehow found this friend who knew someone who had this dingy shop in loadi road and yes i found the back panel but guess the amount i paid?? It costed me 400 bucks. Now too much for that small flat cover that i did not purchase from the motorola service center. The handsfree I bought to become stress free
The real thing..the music. I always adjusted and justified this purchase as i liked the fm thingy, the bluetooth that my phone had with a 2gb expandable memory. The only relief to my stressful mind(a phone is a true companion after all) but the handsfree went crazy and the thin wire from the little box came out in no time. Now that was not good.
My tour to the nearest mobile repairing shop-and you know the answer is predictable-the guy said-"no.a similar handsfree is not available with us. It will cost you 500 rs...i can get this made(he meant recreating that masterpiece-as if it was a rocket science to rectify that(i still wonder what parts moto phones have, that is beyond the reach of a repairing shop!)
What?
"now my dear motorola-the zn200 yuva series..you so far have not exhibited any feature that gave my guilt a cool shower..problems problems and only problems. I want to sell you now!!"-this was the take and recommendation from friends after 5 months of my purchase. I decided to go to the nearest mobile store and also checked with other vendors and guess what they were willing to give me for this masterpiece??-rs.600 only. Puppy eyed me with a straight face came out of the shop.
And till this day i cry-it hangs and the software flies.
Still adjusting with the black colored sliver finish motorola zn200 yuva series...the phone software hangs hangs and hangs--telling me that it is deteriorating day by day (i have this phone since 8 months now) and that its high time that i make the next purchase...herez what happens:
I press a key to see a picture-the screen goes black blank-makes me wait for a set of 60 seconds to see it
I press the message key-it takes 60 seconds to read the message and show it-imagine in emergency situations it takes a toll on you ;(
And if i hold the phone from the side-the camera puts on automatically and clicks the picture of my handbag at times, at times my feet, or its special effect motion picture which has no meaning. Why did the phone designers and technicians create the camera buttons with no auto lock features.
The charger and its fireworks. My yuva series phone charger does not work and shows fireworks when put on the socket(this is after i wanted to sell it) and hence i somehow have managed to buy a rs.100 charger which right now the lifeline of my phone as the battery aint that promising dude!!
Please refrain from buying the motorola yuva series zn200-its not a reliable purchase.
Thanks
Swati
