I am writing this review to just mention my key experiences with L7 bought 4 months back (Bangalore).
DO TEST THESE IF YOU BUY (or planning to buy) L7:
1] I did not receive any official warranty card with the phone since the dealer said payment receipt itself would suffice as proof of purchase in a service center. I suspect this could be a reason that the piece I got probably contained subtle problems!
Lesson: Do insist on the original warranty card, not just a payment receipt. There are chances that absence of original warranty is owing to problems in the mobile piece. Even if you agree to buy without such warranty card, do bargain for a good price.
2] Suddenly on one fine day, I discovered that phone wont stop ringing even after a call is over if that call was received when the phone was in charging mode. I have found it happening almost every time I receive a call when phone is in charging mode. And only way to stop it to switch it off!!!
Lesson: Test what happens when you are charging the mobile (using charger or USB cable) and you receive a call. Does it receive properly? what happens after call ends - does it rightly resume charging?
3] No IR connectivity. Movie quality is equally poor.
Lesson: Check if you use IR often to transfer pics etc from your mobile to other mobiles, PDA etc? Also note that L7 does not come with FM!
4] Sometimes while saving pictures, it won’t recognize the media card. So I got to restart it again.
Lesson: Test this as well by taking several pics/movie and then saving them on the media card.
5] Battery life really fell down to a day or so even in stand-by mode just after one week of use. If I play music then I can’t expect it to last beyond 2-3 hrs in total.
Lesson: If you plan to play music for long hours before being able to charge the phone - consider some other mobile!
6] Sometimes if I have to restart it then it resets most of the settings and shows white screen (no wall paper)!
Lesson: Try doing this several times especially when mobile switches off owing to low battery.
7] L7 comes with USB connectivity to synchronize phone data with your computer/laptop etc but in my case the sychronization s/w never worked!
Lesson: Do install the s/w immediately after you buy it and see if you get right synchronization connectivity between your mobile and computer under this s/w. In my case have to rather directly drag and drop files treating the mobile as another storage device. That’s all!
>> Some Good Experiences:
1) USB connectivity with option to charge it through usb cable itself.
2) No doubt phone is really sleek and design is appealing.
3) VGA Camera appears taking good pics if there is adequate sunlight. Otherwise its of not much use. I usually tilt the mobile while taking pics in low lighting conditions to set the angle it catches the best light!
4) Speaker is also pretty good quality - digital audio player is especially nice.
