My Samsung X-100 was cutting off. I knew I had to look for a phone fast, my job needs me to be in touch with clients. That phone held over 400 numbers and fifty sms messages, luckily I managed to download everything to my PC.
As an alternative I wanted a phone with ease of use, lots of phonebook capacity, and killer looks. I did not want Nokia, somehow I do not find their phones to be user-friendly.
My heart was set on the RazrV3i, but I could not think of having to flip it open twenty times a day. Then I saw the L7, and my heart did a back-flip.
It had killer looks, it looked mean and chic and . I got it for Rs 8500/- with warranty, earphones, software and a leather loop.
Now after 20 days, I am more glad than ever for the choice. The voice clarity is outstanding. I loaded all 400-odd telephone numbers into the handset, using the Motorola software, no problems. However my SMS from the Samsung software are still in the PC and I cannot seem to download them to the phone. The Motorola PC software is quick and easy to use. Phonebook backs up fast, but there seems to be no way to back up the SMS to your PC.
The case is reasonably tough and does not get scratched easily. I have used a screen protector "Scratchgard" which is holding up well. This has prevented my keys from scratching the screen, and already there are some glazed areas on the Scratchgard.
Camera pics are okay while video is jerky, but I was not interested in the camera features in any case, and I have not taken any pictures after trying out the cam.
The phone is a head-turner, and draws attention from everyone.
It has facility to switch to vibrator mode with one touch. Only grouse is that there is no auto key-lock, though it does go automatically into key-lock mode if you have only answered a call.
Its a great machine with great looks. Some of the software navigation is not intuitive as I found in case of Samsung, and it takes a lot of time to get adapted to the software. The Scheduler does not allow you to see all the appointments togetehr, but pou have to look at the calendar and open the dates marked.
