Motorola L9- Good for the Average User

I bought the Motorola L9 a month ago.

Design:

The phone is aesthetic in its design and very beautiful to look at. The keypad is excellent to view and the looks are downright excellent which by now has become the trademark of Motorola.

Rating:

Features:

The phone is equipped with 2 MP camera with video recording function. A normal Mp3 Player, FM radio, Bluetooth, Hot-Swappable Memory card.

Indian users will get pre-installed Cricket and Platinum Sudoku game. which is a let down compared to the Europeans who get Splinter Cell and racing games.

The package comes with a 256 MB memory card.

Rating:

Usability:

The phones is slightly slow for starters but is gets quite fast on using it for a few weeks.

Motorola’s very own operating system does a fairly week job of keeping the ergonomics of the menu very small.

The menu system needs a huge upgrade from Motorola.

Otherwise the phone is very good to use. Ex-Nokia users and SE users might find the menu system lack intuitiveness that SE and Nokia menus have.

Rating:

Mp3, Video:

The mp3 playback is very good and video playback is good. The speakers lack that extra oomph but the earphones make up for it by giving clear and loud sounds.

The screen is small at 1.9 inches. But still the screen is very clear and sharp. Watching full length movies in the screen might be a pain but still its good to watch the short videos.

Rating:

Other Features:

The phone features FM radio which is very good but again the speakers let it down.

The bluetooth is very fast which sets the benchmark compared to SE and Nokia.

The software support is good with Opera Mini 4.1 being supported.

The GPRS and EDGE connection is very good with AirTel but my Vodafone connection leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe using BSNL will work wonders.

Rating:

Call Clarity and Reception:

The phone uses Motorola’s CrystalTalk technology and it is evident. The calls are very clear with no disturbance and the speakers for the call are also clear.

The reception is very good in all areas depending on the towers. But still the antenna is powerful and gives good coverage all over.

Rating:

Battery:

The battery is nothing much to right about. It gives Two days of standby time on:

Games- 3 Hrs

Calls- 2 Hrs

Messaging- 1 Hr

Internet- 1 Hr

Bluetooth- On/Off

The battery stand by is very good and talk-time is

very good with 6 hours. However the standby time depends on the coverage of your network.

My Review:

The phone is more than good as the run-of-the-mill

multimedia phone but it leaves a lot to be desired as the keypad is very good to look at but is a pain to write messages and play games. But the phone more than makes up with its stunning looks.

I give it a 4-star rating because with its good battery and good features its a phone you have to look at when you go hunting for a phone at a price range below 7K.
