Well this review is not really about V600, but a closely related phone on the same platform... the V303. This review is strictly for Indian customers.
It seems that the US and European version of this phone has been quite well received, but the Indian model falls far behind. The reason being that the Indian phone is being sold with older firmware verion.
It is fairly easy to get this information, the software version is openly displayed in most Motorola phones (Settings ->Phone Status -> Other Information). The older software seems to have quite a few bugs, especially related to call dropping and general voice call problems (like the calling party can hear you, but you cant). This is apparently not there on the foreign phones (judging from the reviews). But the ones being sold in India till now (Sep04) definitely are buggy.
I encountered these issuses on my phone
1) After a call the camera refuses to start Busy try again diaglogue comes up.
2) Phone does not ring sometimes when a MP3 ringtone is set (Why market this feature Moto??!!)
3) If you keep the phone in your jeans pocket, I can bet that you will never hear it ringing.
4) As I mentioned before, problems with voice calls...calling party can hear but I cant or vice versa.
I loved this flashy and colourful phone initially, but very soon I foud that these drawbacks nullify all the colourful features. This is why I felt I shoudl write this review...the Motorola V303 Indian version looks good at first sight, but is not worth the trouble. Sure you can send it to Motorola service center, leave it there for a day, and they would fix everything, but would it not be easier to walk into a Nokia or Samsung showroom instead?? Especially for the lay-man who does not want to be bothered by these problems and just use his phone.
BTW, in case anyone is interested, I found the games in this phone quite dull too...personally I think Nokias snake can hold my attention for a longer time than all the 3 games on this phone! But that of course is a personal opinion.
