Thirdclass Motorola W362

I bought a Motorala W362 CDMA phone a few days after New Year’s Day 2009. I am having a very bad experience with the product. On the first day itself the batteries could not be charged fully even after 24 hours of power supply.

I went to the nearest service center, where they made me wait for half an hour and then said that the phone charges properly. I have no idea whether they fixed some problem but the batteries then started to get charged.

One month after that the phone started to behave abnormally. At the click of any button it would hang up and then be usable only after I removed the batteries and restart. If I did manage to call anyone, the call would get disconnected after 2 rings and the phone would hang again.

I went to the service center again and they told me that it was a problem with the new SIM/UIM card from Reliance because the new SIM came after the W362 model was designed. I refuse to believe this because the same SIM/UIM card works fine with the other nokia CDMA phone that I have is an older model than this W362 model. If the SIM works fine with an older phone how can it not work with the newer phone? To solve the problem they ’upgraded’ the software on the phone but the problem persisted. I then used my old nokia phone with the same SIM for a couple of days.

After another week, I put the SIM back to this W362 model and it started working fine. Two weeks after I started reusing the SIM on W362, the phone conked off again saying that there was a software problem, to fix which, I had to go back to the service center. Since I have been to the service center thrice in 2 months since I purchased this new handset, I am convince that this is a third class phone.

The only thing good about it is its price. At this price I am getting the features of a VGA camera, MP3 player, FM radio, Expandable memory and a color screen. But the Menu is useless as it is a cumbersome process to find which setting works how. I cannot set the MP3 songs as ring tones through the phone. I need to connect the phone to my computer to do so. When connected to the computer, the phone cannot receive any incoming calls; in short the phone is then not a phone just an external hard drive.

In short, no one should buy this phone.
