A Trip To Mount Abu... The Paradise

It was on Saturday 27th July 2015 me and my cousin went to this place in couple. This is the first time I visited the place and I found this place like a paradise. The place is most beautiful in monsoon. This time when we visited this place, we found the rain all over the route. There were small waterfalls coming from the mountain and it passes over the road or downside the road. It flows down the hills and merge with another fall to make it larger.

Mount Abu is located in Rajasthan near Ambaji.  Every Gujrati knows the most spiritual place of Gujarat… Ambaji. It is nearly 50km away from Ambaji. For us the rain starts from Ambaji. Although on the way we had experience the rain which was not so heavy. But after ambaji it goes heavier, faster and wilder.

The hills of Mount Abu start from the Abu road. The road is completely covered with cloud. It is hardly to see the incoming vehicle. More over the roads are so curvy that we cannot drive the vehicle over the speed of 30kmph. It was hard to climb the hill in this weather.

Starting from my home town Modasa at 8am we reached Mount Abu at 2pm which is about 250km away. After reaching to the place, firstly we look around for a hotel for accommodation at night. It seems hard to find a room at cheaper rate. We got a room for 800rs per room at Rahi Hotel. We were 4 in couple, so had rent 4 rooms for 3200rs. The rooms were clean and good.

We got into the room at 4pm and got fresh, rest for an hour, later we move out into the city. The place was still raining a lot and it seems like it won’t stop for the day. The good thing about rain was it doesn’t keeps raining. In between it stops for an hour or half. Each time it rains we need to find the shelter to cover ourselves and then we start with the city after it stops.

For the rest of the day from 5pm to till 10pm we roam around the city. Visited Nikki Lake and also drive the boat in the late. The cost to drive a boat was 50rs per head. It was cheap and we enjoyed the lake a lot. It was difficult to drive a boat in the lake. Because the lake was fully covered with cloud and it was hard to see the incoming boats and walls.

At 10pm we were hungry and rush towards the home. On the way we had found a Zaika restaurant. This is the place where my cousins use to visit whenever they are at Mount Abu. We got into the restaurant and it was full with people. It was a small restaurant having nearly 6-7 tables each with 4-6 chairs. Just after 20 minute we got the table. We ordered mutton angara and chicken bhuna which was so good in taste. The most I like was mutton angara. Quantity of this food was enough for 14 people.

After dinner we all went to hotel. The location of our rooms gives good sight. From there we can see the city. We sat there up to 1am. Talked there and looking at the city which was shining with lights and covered with cloud. The light coming from the cloud looks like brightening stars.  For the day we slept 1am and wake up in the morning at 8am on next day.

The rain continues for the complete night and also in the morning. On the next day for Sunday we planned a trip to Guru Shikhar, which is the top place of the state. This is 2km above from the Sea Level and nearly 15km away from Mount Abu. From Mount Abu there was a climbing to Guru Shikhar and we started our journey at 10am from Mount Abu.  We travel to Guru Shikhar in rain and reached there by 11am. It was still raining there and the wind speed was 20kmph. Guru Shikhar was so cold and blowing wind makes it even cooler.

There were steps to climb the top place to Guru Shikhar. At the parking place we parked our Jeep and we starts climbing to the hill to the top place of Guru Shikhar. There was small shops on the way from there we bought some toys for the children. Reaching at the half way, my cousins moves back down to the Jeep at parking. Only I with my wife had climbed the steps up to the top place of the hill. After reaching on the top of the hill I found a bell hanging. And also there was temple. We rang the bell and from the top it looks like I am on the cloud in the sky. But we didn’t stay there for longer. It was raining so heavily there also the force of the wind makes us unbalanced ourselves. There was no railing around the hill and a small misbalance may make us to fall down from the hill. So we stay there for 10 minute holing the pole and took some picture in the rain and moves down to the parking place. There were hardly 20 people who climb till there. Other use to revert back from the half way. When I rang the bell, it looks like a great success for me. Fighting with rain, wind, cold, misbalancing and other difficulties we just reached the top. Later we came down to the Jeep and came back to Mount Abu. It was 2pm and still raining.

Coming back to Mount Abu there was still raining. This time the rain is still heavier than yesterday. It was raining nonstop. This time it doesn’t even stop for a single minute. The rain continues. So we had done some shopping. The price of the things over here was higher compared to other place. They use to take extra charge on MRP. But there was no other option for us on the hill. So we do have to pay for that. There was a Tibetan Market from where we bought shoes, glasses, toys and other things.

At Last we left from Mount Abu at 3pm. On the way back to Abu Road the sight becomes even more beautiful. The small waterfalls that were flowing over the mountain became larger due to heavy rain. This all combines into a big flow that was visible on the down of the still. The place looks like paradise. I enjoyed there a lot. The rain never stops for these 2 days. But safely on Sunday night we reached our homes.

We were lucky on the trip. On the next day(Monday) in the news it shows that Mount Abu receive very heavy rain. It was never in past 23 years. And I was just saved from this. If I stay there for longer, I may stuck there in the rain and would get back to home after few days. But Thank God, I left from Mount Abu on Sunday night when it rains 450mm which was recorded highest in 23 years.
