I always thought that The Taj is the most magnificent man made structure I would ever see, then I saw the Dilwara temples In Mt.Abu.
I had not heard a thing about these marvels in marble till I reached the Temple gate. Was on my honeymoon. The temples look pretty ordinary, actually very shabby from the outside, but once you go inside, your eyes are really in for a feast.
every inch of marble carved to perfection. time spent here is really time spent in heaven. Photography in the temple is a strict No No ! so your eyes are the only camera to capture every moment. Gaze around..stare It’s wonderful.
Every pillar , every carving has a story to tell, which is again worth listening.
The temples were built some where in the 12th century and have withstood the fury of nature and man till now.
I insist you take a travel guide with you when you visit the temples, this will help you in appreciating the minute details which we will else easily over look.
A visit to abu / rajasthan is definitely incomplete if you dont visit the dilwara temples.
