Ek aur soft drink....?!

’’Ek aur soft naya drink...?!’’

thats exactly what what came to mind when the Mountain Dew ads filled our homes throught he TV ads. In the Promise toothpase ad the lady (remember - ’ek aur naya toothpaste..?!) reminded us of its difference, and here too there are the cool dudes who tell us.... -oh now... which of these ads is the spoof and which is the real one?!?!

Frankly, none of the lime/lemon flavored soft drinks really quenches thirst. Its quite natural that due to the slightly acidic nature and added salt, you may feel like you want to have real chilled water AFTER drinking any of these.

So which of these is err... well.... next best to cold water, is the real question. My choice would be either Sprite or 7 Up. But it should be really chilled, even better if its on crushed ice.

Given a choice, I would any hot summer noon, have a chilled tall glass of buttermilk. Yes, buttermilk! If made well (with ground adrak, green chilly and coriander leaves) its a quencher, really safe (has lactobacilli and might save you from anything you got having those roadside bajjis!)

I think few state owned milk diaries are making these and selling them in pouches (they are, at least here in Vellore, Tamil Nadu). If they arent, they should!

Coming back to the Dew and others, like all toothpastes are quite the same (they work due to some foaming action, and astringent action, which ALL have) but also have small differences, you need to try it out before you can close doors on it. Reminds me of the Promise ad again. If you like Colgate and always used it, you might not want to try it out even!
