I joined MS in 2004 but never felt the need for writing reviews till recently.MY first writeup was triggered by a bad experience in a restaurant in Kasauli. I wanted people should know about this and avoid this joint.Within minutes of posting the writeup I found 10 people had read it.Well, I found this is as good as standing on your rooftop and shouting.The world is listening to you.Within minutes a comment was received from another MS member who had a similar experience in the same restaurant.It is most important as a consumer to BLOW THE WHISTLE. If you have a bad experience with a product or service let the world know it.I feel this is a very important social responsibillity which MS is shouldering.
Equally important is the platform it provides for creative expression.There are hundreds of people here who have realised their latent talent in writing.But there are also people who are in a hurry to complete their fiftys and hundreds!
what do you think of review writing contests? During the last few days all of us have seen reviews after reviews coming out from MS as if from a production line in a factory!Many of these were about travel. All of them wanted to win and take the trip to goa.One review said I went to goa , nice place goa, sun and sand goa, nice beaches goa, wham baam thank you maam.iam not very sure whether they serve any purpose.It is a sheer waste of time for the one who writes and the ones who read.Most of all it is a sheer waste of valuable MS space.
MS is a wonderful forum where one can interact with people having varied interests.Where else can I find people with interests in sufi music, himalayan trekking, face reading.alternative therapies, country music, urdu poetry so on and so forth.What makes it wonderful is the quality of writing. If trash after trash appears on it.........Let there be some thinking on this.
