I’ve already written a review on top 10 sites. I didn’t include MouthShut on that list because I knew everyone of us know about MS, I mentioned on that review that the top sites are the ones not known to many. Now here are my views, my review on MS.
For a consumer feedback community, the essential thing is the Community. And its just too good. I dont think I would’ve written a second review if so many of you hadn’t rated my first review. Its indeed a great friendly community. The best part is, everyone shares their opinion on things they’ve experienced without just going through other’s views.
Coming to site design, its a good, simple but aesthetic design essentially made to load the site faster. And as a matter of fact, the site loads really fast compared to most sites. Navigation is simple. On every page corresponding options are given at right spots. So there hasn’t been much of a chance to search for links. The fact that User’s profile pages are made in HTML instead of ASP or php is plainly to reduce access time. So that shows the prime motive of the site builder: ’Reduce Load Time’.
ANother feature I found unique is the ’Site Status’ column on left column. This shows the current status of M2M, speed and if congestion prevails so that we can be sure if things are wrong with our system or with MS server.
M2M is a good feature which allows the users to communicate with each other without letting them know their identity, thus preventing the possibility of spam. MS-Points, Mouthpad are good concepts to encourage the members and also the expand the scope of MS-reviews.
Now, after using the site for a few months, I felt that the site would be better with some features. Im summarising them:
There can be an optional Poll associated with each review/product. The author may decide if he’s gonna keep a poll or not. This is because, in some cases we tend to give a NU rating for a review whose ideas dont go with our ideas. That’s natural. If we have an option to just put-forth our ideas on a poll, It’d be useful. Other way of implementing this, is we can have a poll along with a product. There might be people who can’t write a review on the product but can either recommend or not recommend it.
In each category there could be a way, using which we can find the best product easily. Like, you can provide a Combo box or a link to sort the products according to their rating given by reviewers. So that it would be easy for us to locate the most recommended product/service in each category.
