I have enjoyed reading reviews and diaries on MS for a long time, but am returning to the MS site to post a review after a long gap (mainly due to lethargy, no excuses). Also, one of the reasons I stopped contributing is that MS has transformed into a site for people to vent their ire against persons / products / services they have been disappointed with, rather than to post objective reviews based on first-hand experience.
In my humble opinion, MS should be a site where people post reviews and feedback on products / services they have availed of, and would like to share their personal experiences, which would enable others to make informed decisions as well as avoid potential pitfalls. Thats what I would like to do at MS. Also, I feel MS should encourage people to post impartial reviews which are precise as well as concise. Very often, I have come across even RODs which would make a seasoned essay-writer cringe at the length and the language used in the review. Am sure there are several other / better websites where people can showcase their writing skills, if thats their primary purpose of writing on MS.
Anyway, I have enjoyed reading many insightful reviews on MS and learnt many a things on diverse areas, and shall continue to do so. It would just make my life (and I suppose those of several other MS fans) a bit easier if MS Mgmt appoints moderators to weed out poorly written reviews and those making personal remarks on persons / products - which should ideally be addressed to the respective Customer Support teams. I hope this one stays on the MS site though :-D
Many thanks to MS and reviewers.
Best wishes,
Ramesh
