The channel was launched on 6 May 2012.[2] It is Star’s second Hindi movie channel, the first beingSTAR Gold which was launched in 2000.
It is also the second channel to be branded under the OK brand rather than the STAR brand afterLife OK, a general entertainment channelwhich was launched in December 2011 to replace STAR One.[3] Before the launch of Movies OK, STAR acquired Viacom 18’s movie portfolio, paving the way for the launch of the new channel.
