Greetings from South America! The OSM has been here since Sunday afternoon and we were about to play our 2ndconcert. The time between our arrival and first concert of the tour is always more lengthy because after a long overnight flight it takes time for us to rest and recuperate from a potentially sleepless night. The instruments also need time to arrive at our first location.
The city is HUGE; someone said 21 Million in the greater Saõ Paulo area and over 40 Million in the State of Saõ Paulo. There are people everywhere on the streets during the day. It gets a bit emptier at night, which is why our handlers told us to avoid traveling alone. Some highlights of the trip for me have been the Parque do Ibirapuera and eating sushi in the Japanese District; 1.5 million Japanese live in Saõ Paulo, allegedly the most outside of Japan itself. The food was delicious.
