A great place for bands to start.

Im in a new band called Vinyl Elektra.

We are trying hard to get heard all over the world at the moment with as much coverage as possible.

Having your song on Napster is very good as is sending untold amounts of demos off to record companies.

But how about having it on a dedicated site where people interested in unsigned bands and new bands can go and have a listen themselves?

Well thats is where MP3.com are going to help me out I hope.

I signed up for them last week inthe hope of getting our newly-demoed tracks online and into the homes of people the world over.

Sign up is free, as is the hosting of your songs and maintenance of your web space.

You can add songs, add graphics and biographies, tour dates, gigs and alsorts!

It really is a useful tool for getting your music heard.

Its easy to follow and a good attractive site to look at.

My only 2 gripes are that the site looks too busy and the time it takes to do anything.

I say busy because there is far too much information available on the home page and unless you have a very high resolution monitor, you have no chance of seeing it all without a lot of scrolling.

It is also slow for registering and updating.

I registered over 6 days ago and so far they have not apporved my account or my songs.

They say that it takes a few days to get your account approved but im starting to loose patience.

Alternatively, you can pay $200 to get a quicker service and better facilities. A bit of a con really.

I expect they are making me wait to try and get me to sign up for the pay service.

Anyway, im looking forward to having my songs available there in the near future and heard by the world over!

My MP3 songs will, for now, have to remain on my website.

If anyone wants to check them out, and sign my guestbook, feel free to do so!!!
