Longfellow Deeds (Adam Sandler) happily runs a small pizza shop in the little town of Mandrake Falls, New Hampshire. He is a seemingly happy and well-adjusted guy whose main pastime involves writing greeting cards he hopes will one day be published by Hallmark. All that changes when he finds out that he is the only relative of the now-deceased billionaire Preston Blake.
What follows is sheer entertainment which will brighten not only your 100 odd minutes, but also keep you smiling for the rest of the day. A feel good film, it shows the values of being simple, friendly & selfless.
Winona Ryder plays the undercover reporter Babe Bennett posing as school nurse Pam Dawson. Deeds goodness has Babe falling in love with him instead. The film has memorable scenes like whack the foot, save the cat & the climax scene. Ultimately, Deeds comes to find that money truly has the power to change things, but it doesnt necessarily need to change him.
Steve Buscemi puts in a stellar performance as Crazy Eyes. John Turturro was my personal favorite as Emilio. Sandler does well in a role that suits him to the T. Winona is just about passable. Surprise surprise, John McEnroe puts in a guest appearance.
