Simply Reflective

Its sure been a long time since Aparna directed her last movie. And it sure has been worth the wait.

The movie itself is simple - revolving around a journey... which serves as an eye-opener for those undertaking it. Rahul Bose excels in the role of a bengali muslim with an amazing sense of integrity and responsibility. Konkona plays the role of a modest South Indian lady with orthodox beliefs, representing a sizable proportion of our countrymen.

The outcome of the journey is one of realization, respect, anger, jealousy, helplessness and finally hope in humanity.Aparna Sen takes the viewer through these range of emotions and several times during the movie I found myself with clenched fists at the helplessness to prevent what was happening out there. The direction is simply amazing. The music haunting and the acting effortless and brilliant.

I do not know whether things will ever change in my homeland - but its a reflection of the times that we need to make movies like this to catch peoples attention.

I must stress that this is a serious movie and not meant for the casual viewer, although I would recommend everyone from seeing this masterpiece at least once.
