Review : Did I leave my couch once? Unlike the typical colourful, scantily dressed, gimmicked movies, this one has left me in a trance that Im experiencing even after a week. The excellence in blending violence with human sensitivity was a breath of fresh air from the smoggy environment that the other movies created.
I just loved the way the movie ended - isnt that what real life offers? The movie was not twisted in any way to finish with one of the traditional endings. The performances of Konkana and Rahul Bose were so close to life that it pained my heart to see Raja depart, leaving me stranded in the station with Mrs.Iyer. The best part was not showing each person as black or white but converting to gray. Raja was not one of the typical - good at everything guy (hes awesome at doing that, like in Chameli) and Mrs.Iyers depiction of a Tamil Brahmin was flawless with just the right vocabulary and accent.
I do wonder how the actual religious people would have taken it, a married, T.Br mother shedding tears to depart from a Muslim guy... The change in their relationship from the beginning to the end is great, but there was no jump as the movie proceeds. This is not one of those watch-once movies, but a masterpiece that I sure am going to store for years to come - dealing with issues on religious conflicts and countering religious ethics to get outside the box and know a person before judging him/her by religion.
