Having downloaded it for FREE from the MSN site, I mused through it waiting for alerts like…’’ for this function get the original version at $ so-n-so ’’ but was pleasantly surprised. A cool interface, loaded with graphics and REAL fast are the USPs of this browser.
Getting in, Getting started
The multicolored butterfly, characteristic of MSN, in your start menu, is the first indication of being into the MSN tribe. Clicking on this gets a unique looking window up for you, where you sign in. The sign-in is very well visually articulated. For starters, there is a sign-in for upto 10 members, that is, 10 people can sign in with different names and personal setting for this browser, (targeted for the Hindu undivided family, probably!) Each person gets a unique graphic button next to his name. Click on your button, enter password, watch the butterfly flutter….and BINGO! …welcome to MSN !!
Okay, Now What Else??
You are straight away taken to your hotmail account inbox. Your mail folders are synchronized, ( and fast !! ) and you get all your mails out there! Now for the icing on the cake, (or so I think!) you can actually ’’archive’’ your mails! In plain english, that simply means that you can unload your hotmail inbox mails onto your PC thereby avoiding the frequent and irritating’’Your mailbox is Full’’ message. Not only mails, this one also gets to you, all the MSN services you have signed in for. MSN Communities, Calender, Stocks…and….(hold your breath!) MSN Messenger! Yes, you can chat with people on MSN through this browser.
Now tell me that ain’t cool!
The MSN Explorer India also has a built-in media player which lets you listen to streaming audio ( Internet radio, anybody?) and watch movie clips then and there!
Not to mention a built-in search bar and other personalised services to your aid!
There’s a world outside MSN too, remember!
Yes, this one functions like any other browser, taking you to various sites as you want. The progress of site download can be seen from the advent of color over the location bar. It can import favorites from your older Explorer if you so desire. It can synchronize your Hotmail address book as per your personal one on Outlook Express.
The only regret I have is that they do not have a Mac version of this one, and I use a Mac at office.
