When it comes to chatting and keeping in touch with friends and family, I have learned to download all different kinds of messengers. Not only am I the only one who uses this computer at home, but also so does my kids. So we have a wide Varity of messengers to chose from when it deals with keeping in touch. I normally would use the AOL messenger, but recently I downloaded MSN messenger, and I have to say I think it is much better then the AOL messenger. Why do I think it is better? Well let’s do a little comparison.
AOL messenger vs. MSN messenger With the MSN messenger I really enjoy the feature were it show’s your emails. When you sing onto MSN a window will pop up on the bottom of your tool bar and it will say if you have “new” mail in your email box. All you have to do then is click on the mail icon and off it takes you to your mailbox. This comes in handy for me because I hate to check my mail and find that there wasn’t anything sent to me. J With the AOL messenger, you don’t have this feature and that is one con that I dislike about AOL messenger to begin with. With MSN you can add and delete your buddy list. It will also show you who is online and who isn’t. This feature is the same as the AOL messenger. There is also a place on MSN messenger that you can click on a phone icon and it will allow you to make a phone call to any house in the USA.
Now AOL doesn’t allow you to make phone calls on its messenger. So I did enjoy this feature as well. You don’t need to hold a phone anymore to talk to someone else on his or her phone. Just sit back, place your call and talk. Hands free no holding a phone. You can send a file to your buddy just like you can on AOL, so that isn’t too much different. But I like the chat rooms on MSN and AOL doesn’t have those, or at least I never seen the chat rooms for AOL messenger when I used it. MSN also gives you more (emotions icons) to use in your chats. This is really cool I like to play around when I talk online with friends, and with all the different styles of icons I can send with my chat makes it even more fun.
With the MSN messenger you can also send a message to any mobile device. This means I can send a message to any cell phone that accepts messages. This is kind of cool, but I have not used this feature yet. AOL doesn’t allow this feature so there is another down falls with AOL. You can also start a conversation that allows you to hear the other person talk. This is cool as well, but I do have to say that finally AOL messenger has caught up with this too and now they allow you to do the same. You can also change the color of your messenger and never let it keep looking dull. I wish AOL would allow us to change that YUCKY yellow they have. I just think that over all the MSN messenger allows you more features to use then the AOL messenger service. I have grown to love my MSN and I hope that more of my friends start to use this service.
There are only two things that I really didn’t care for with the MSN messenger and they are as follow.
You have to have either a hotmail or MSN account to be able to use this messenger, and with the AOL messenger it doesn’t matter what email account you have you can still use their messenger.
You can only chat with others who downloaded the MSN messenger. So there you have it folks, MSN –VS- AOL. Now you decide which one you think is better. Download them both and try them out in comparison. The web site to download MSN is at https://msn.com
