Comments: It is the best option to stay while in Tadoba (Tadoba has only three options). Location of the resort / hotel is excellent as it is located right in front of a small lake. However as compared to the other two options it is located at a far distance from Moharli gate (from where you enter for the safari).
However this is not a problem as the vehicle which you have booked for your safari comes to pick you up. We had booked an AC Room (Rs. 1350 Per Night + Taxes. Rates change according to season) & were more than happy with the room. It was big enough, with clean bathrooms & good storage space. The room had big 21” colour TV with Tata sky connection, although we did not have the time to switch on the same as we were very much occupied with the jungle safaris.
There is small balcony which gives good views of the small lake, however during summer season you cannot enjoy the view as it’s very hot during day time. But during winters it will be a nice place to relax & do some birding. The hotel has installed a genset to offer uninterrupted power supply (Thank god for that), which is a must in summer season as the day time temperature goes up to 45 Degrees in the area. Still at times there was problem with AC cooling.
There is small play park for children just opposite the restaurant. Our jungle experience was excellent & had sightings of Tiger, Sloth Bear, Bison, Barking Dogs, all types of deers, even crocodile. In birds we saw Indian Pitta, Peacocks, Owls, Serpent Eagle & many more. Since this is a hotel review I will write a separate destination review in detail. We had an excellent experience staying at MTDC Moharli. Lastly one big advice book you rooms well in advance during holidays to avoid disappointment.
Best Experience: 1] All the staff is local at the hotel & they provide excellent service. The effort they put in is from their heart.
2] The most used facility at the hotel is the Chilled water dispenser. Thanks MTDC for the same, without which it would had been impossible for us to survive in scorching heat.
3] In spite of Knowing that there is no other option in the area to have food & buy soft drinks the rates are kept very reasonable. In fact I will say cheaper as compared to other MTDC hotels like Tarkarli.
4] The hot butter rotis & bread we had there are one of the best.
Worst Experience: 1] Booking the accommodation was a big problem, as the Mumbai MTDC office refused to book an AC Room sighting power cut problems in the area. However I managed to book an AC Room with the help of a contact in Chandrapur.
2] Food Menu is limited especially for us Jains who do not consume Potatoes, Onions & Garlic. We had to eat same vegetable (Panner Butter Masala) for our entire stay. Our request to make some other vegetables was not fulfilled due to non availability of vegetables. This is one area which needs to be looked in to.
