Most of us write reviews here only when we need to complain or tell the world on how we have been cheated by some company.But today, I write this review just to compliment a network operator for the great improvement in the quality of service it has shown in the past few years.
I have been using MTNL for the past 7 years and have had very little to complain about. Their 3G service alongwith a great network coverage in Mumbai makes them one of the best service providers. Probably their tag of being held by the Govt has a negative impact on their brand value. You go anywhere in India, there’s BSNL roaming which again has a pan India 3G license therefore giving you 3G coverage everywhere at no extra cost. Also they are charging 2p/10kb which is the cheapest rate without a rental.
The network coverage has far improved in the past few years with addition of towers all over the place. Places having low network earlier are now showing full network, such is the improvement.
Voice clarity is great and all the required VAS are available with them at a reasonable cost.

Probably where they lack is aggressive advertising of products which cannot match the dynamic nature of other mobile operators.
Also they need to improve the number of offers, such as maybe introducing an unlimited whatsapp coupon etc. They should understand that when its value for money, people are always ready to pay and they should capitalise on the same.
To conclude, I feel that MTNL is one of the most underrated operators in Mumbai and we need to consider once when we think of shifting to new operators.
