It was heartening to know that STD rates have been reduced by MTNL/BSNL followed by a reduction in ISD rates.
Many mothers will thank the Minister of Communications for reduction in the ISD rates, as they will be able to talk to their dear ones easily without worrying about astronomical bills.The rates are now somewhat closer to those offered Internationally.
The software industry has been complaining about higher communication bills in India as compared to the USA and OTHER COMPETING COUNTRIES and will be giving a sigh of relief.
However the connection charges of MTNL/BSNL are killing the internet traffic. In Singapore and Malaysia on the access charges have to be paid to the ISP and there are no Telco charges.
In order to promote the internet revolution and spreading the education to masses the iternet access charges by Basic Operators should be reduced. With increased mobile usage it will get further boost with reduced call connect charges. The reduction will improve the usage of Telephone lines the long term revenue stream of Basic Telephone operators.
