I have been using MTNL Broadband for over 3 years now and I can proudly say that I am a happy customer. I was staying in Dwarka Sec. 7 when I got it installed there. Later I moved to my new home in New Mahavir Nagar. Within about 8-10 months I got the connection transferred to Ramesh Nagar at my shop.
I have always used a 2Mbps unlimited plan. The speed has been consistently around 1.5 - 1.6 Mbps. The only time the speed drops is when my monthly limit of 6 GB gets exhausted. Even after that I get a fair speed of 40-50 kbps. At all these places I have rarely faced a speed related problem. I may say it happens once 6 or 8 months. But the best part of MTNL is in all these places the linemen have been very friendly. They give out their personal number to the customer and they have explicitly told me call them whenever I face a problem with the connection. So the downtime has been hardly for a day or so.
Also, I have found the plans of MTNL much cheaper than other service providers. Even the staff at the Sanchar Haats are courteous. There were days when you couldnt trust government department staff for all the lies they used to say and their leisurely attitude topped up with lots of rudeness but not now. I have seen a sea change in their attitude and I am quite amazed. My exchange is Rajouri Garden. A couple of times when I faced some problem and had to visit the exchange I was made to speak to one Mr. Jain. He is not only courteous but has gone out of the way to rectify the issue.
I think the best part of MTNL connection is that, apart from registering a complaint online or on phone, I have a place to go to and meet the person liable to rectify my problem if need be. With the other service providers, the customers can lodge a complaint online or on phone and wait for the an engineer to visit or go to one of the outlets to get the problem rectified but can never visit the control centre.
So if you are ready to suffer a downtime for a day or so once in about 6-8 months at the same time comparing the connection with value for money and services I would suggest you to go for MTNL. My rating
Value for money - 9/10 points
Service Quality - 7.5/10 points
Speed and Reliability - 8.5/10 points
