Datacard Modem have been the trend of the twetyfirst century ever since Tata Docomo introduced their 2G dongle in India. Since then, many Telecom giants have tinkered with their PLC to provide internet through this facility including Reliance and Airtel.
The company who produces the dongle is a Japenese Telecom giant called Huawei, the one and only solution for Dongle internet in Asia.
Huaweis sturdy product is made of plastic and durable for long. It doesnt succumb to inflmmation even after long use which means the reliability factor is extremely high.
Studies claim that more than 90% cases of internet failure has something to do with the inefficiency of the service provider rather than the hardware of Huawei.
You can use it for long without any problem. This is the best hardware you can get in the market. Please dont try to unlock the hardware and outsmart MTS. If youre no expert in the subject, that might land you into trouble.
Or else if you insist on hacking the product, its better to buy a general Dongle hub which is open for all service providers.
Coming back to the MTS Mblaze Ultra connection, the performance of this product have been a mix bag up until now. The service provider offers uninterrupted service at the users convenience but the main problem I had with it was with the Speed.
Inside the package there is the dongle, there is the user manual which contains the information about the product and a warranty card which iterates the terms of warranty to the user(1yr).
The set up is easy peasy. You plug in the dongle and the device software installs itself automatically. Then you have to type in the username and password your SP have provided, inroder to start browsing.
Sometimes the provider forgets to key-in your documents and register your product, say for instance - If youve purchased the dongle from a direct marketer - so dont panic if you encounter any error in the setting-up phase. Just call your service provider and tell them the MDN No(a 12 digit number given in the box) and they will solve the problem ASAP.
MTSs back-up is decent and I was bloddy impressed with their uninterrupted telecast. But their USP of 3Gplus dongle with 9.8 Mbps speed is a folly.
Its easy to blame MTS but the fact is it will take years to get to that level in the infrastrcture of our country meaning 9.8 mbps is a dream for the long future.
At best you will 1.5 to 2 mbps depending on your location and depending on your data plan tariff. Ive chosen unlimited plan costing 1000 Rs, and with a 40 GB FUP.
As you get close to the FUP limit you will experience fluctuations in the speed, which is a pity really because MTS have produced a near perfect browsing machine.
Having said that, the real USP of the product is the wifi support. When I opened the dongle I was shocked not to see a sim card inside. The SP exec told me the dongle is wifi enabled that supports 5 devices simultaneously. That is a big plus for business users.
Since a better dongle is yet to come, I recommend this product wholeheartedly. If youre no business user and have no laptops, broadband would be a more smarter option. See ya:-)
