MTS MBlaze, the best you can get.

I am from Chennai. I bought MBlaze in the last week of Sep 2010 from MTS showroom in Triplicane. Cost of the device is Rs.2000. I selected the unlimited plan of Rs.999. Was online 5 minutes after that!.

The speed quoted is 3.1Mbps. I am getting 1.5Mbps regularly and maximum of 2.5 Mbps at times. I use it for torrents and watching Sports TV streams. Torrents will have an average speed of 150-200kB/s. TV streams(P2P) of 600kbps(Heaviest) works smoothly.

Only prepaid plans available as of Sep 2010. Various plans make it flexible.

Recharge can be done online. Balance can also be checked.

The device also has 2GB micro-SD card slot to use it as a Pen-drive.(SD card not included).

USB extension cable included.(Length=0.6m).

Built is sturdy and has a sleek design. Weight and size similar to a pen-drive.

Compared to Tata Photon plans as of Sep 2010, MBlaze is a clear winner. Rs.999 Unlimited plan follows FairUsagePolicy. 15GB at high speed and later 1x speed.

Photon Plus of similar usage charges Rs.1500. Device cost is Rs 2500 too. Speed / Service is same. MTS has less users and hence gets more speed too.

I am surprised at many other reviewers talking about low speed. I seriously doubt they dunno the difference of kbps and kBps. First one is "bits", second is "bytes". And ya only the disappointed ones cry, happy ones just don’t bother to post anything. So, recommendation level of 30% for most products here is hugely understated. Go buy one and come back even though you are busy browsing your stuff.:)
