I bought MTS card since it allows 40GB data usage at just Rs.999/-(excl taxes). When I used this card in Chennai(note my residence is near airport), the speed was not great. Speed was ranging between 10 kbps to 100 kbps and I had almost decided to deactivate the datacard due to its worst speed. Since I do frequent travel to other parts of the state, I’ve decided to check the speed in other areas before deactivating it.
When I used this card in TN West area, I was surprised to see the download speed upto 4 mbps(maximum speed which I got and tested through speedtest.net.in). I tested it repeatedly every day and it gives an average minimum download speed of 1.70 mbps.
I called customer care to check the reason for slow speed in Chennai airport area and they explained some bandwidth issue as a reason for it. I’m really surprised how a data card works badly in Chennai Metro and it works reasonably well in some other areas of the state. My advice is-
Find out where you use your data card mostly (60-70%).
First call them to your residence and check the speed (ask for a demo).
If you are really satisfied with speed (minimum 1.50 mbps) then go for it.
I just bought the card without asking for speed demo (think this is the mistake I did).
If it gives a good speed then let me tell you this is one of the best data card offer. No ISP gives 40GB data free for just Rs.999/-. Hope this review is useful. All the best!
