I read all the reviews on this site about the mts mblaze internet device and thought of contributing my ten cents too.i bought this device from p.s telecom (mts store) in belghoria, kolkata on 5.06.2010 . I was interested in purchasing the mts standard modem, but the person at the store informed me that the standard modem was out of stock..so i had to go for the premium modem..
Activation:- the device was activated instantly as i submitted the documents .i made the first recharge of rs498/- which is giving me 2.5 gb usage for the first month(offer is going on presently).along with the activated device i got an encyclopaedia britannica dvd & trend micro pc cillin internet subscription for 1 year free.
Network:-the network status seems to be good so far as i am getting full signal even in ground floor & basement of my building.
Software:-once you plugin the modem , the software is installed automatically.the software has a very user friendly and simple interface , thus making it easier for a novice like me.
Speed:_that’s the best part.though they promise you 3.1 mbps..but that is i guess the ideal speed which you will never get because there will always be some kind of signal attenuation wherever you go because of buildings and other structures.i am getting an average speed of 768kbps to 1 mbps which i think is fairly decent for a mobile internet connection.presently i am writing this review while sitting in a moving car and still i am getting around 700 kbps.
Customer support:-did not have a bout with customer care yet.will update surely if i have one.
Plans:- thats another interesting facet.plans of mblaze are very cheap as compared to it’s rivals tata photon and reliance netconnect broadband plus. Best part its prepaid so the cost control is in your hands. There is a tab on the software called "check my balance"..on clicking it the device shows your remaining balance..you can recharge it online from the mts website even at zero balance from anywhere ..so it actually gives you a dual facility...the cost control of prepaid with the uninterrupted convinience of postpaid merged into one.
Coverage:- mblaze evdo coverage is available in kolkata, siliguri, asansol, durgapur & gangtok in the west bengal and sikkim circle.this is good as compared to the rivals tata photon and reliance who have evdo coverage only in kolkata.mts has covered major cities of all states where it has a network...even in states where it does not have a network...it provides national roaming there by the tata cdma network....but as sistema shyam teleservices already have a pan india license so i believe they will extend their services to the other states soon.
All in all, I strongly recommend this product for anyone looking for a stable mobile internet broadband connection.
9.06.2010 :-today as soon as i plugged my mblaze modem into my laptop, i received a message from mts-caf department. On my modem.the message read something like this " we have received your documents &caf application form.thanks for being a part of the mts family".it seems mts provides you sms alerts of important events on your modem. I am impressed, hard to expect something like this from an indian company.
I saw some reviews regarding complains where mblaze is not being activated...i advice everyone not to buy mblaze from agents or representatives .it is better to go directly to your nearest mts store.they activate it instantly as you submit the documents.the representatives on the other hand submitdocuments of many people together..so they usually submit the documents late.
