Story Line :
A refugee family from the newly partitioned Bangladesh settles in Bombay. The family consists of a mother (Nutan), son (Mithun) and a daughter (Pallavi Joshi). The uncle who had given them shelter in Bombay tries to force the mother into prostitution and is killed by the young Mithun. He goes to jail and comes back after ten years when he is a young man. He tries but the world does not give him a fair second chance and he becomes an underworld mafia agent. Action, sentiment, misunderstanding and a towering performance of the lead actors give a refreshing and novel treatment to a cliched story.
The film was released in Hindi all over India but in West Bengal it was a Bengali/Hindi version. When the family were talking to themselves they were talking in Bengali and to otheres they talked in Hindi. The treatment was excellent and that lifted the movie above average. Mithun and Nutan gave brilliant performances and though Madhuri did not have too much to do yet it is one of the few movies she paired with Mithun.
