As compared to lot of other tourist places I visited near Chickmagluru, this one was the best. Apparently, it is the highest mountain peak in Karnataka.
The winding roads that lead to the point from where one has to climb, is absolutely breath taking. The roads are not the best but the work of laying down the roads is currently in progress. So, hopefully that will be fixed.
One has to climb about 400 steps to reach the top of the mountain, which has an old Shiva template. The view from the top is great, and has to be experienced. The amazing panoramic view of mountains on one side, and(mostly) plains on the other with couple of lakes at the far end, is just amazing and should be experienced.
The place needs to be maintained better especially the area around the entrance can be improved, and a public toilet should be put in place, which is a basic requirement missing at many such tourist places.
The temple on the top of the hill is the main attraction. 6300 Ft above the sea level. The road to the foot hill is a little scary. But, if you are used to that kind of driving then you got a great drive for yourself. You might want to carry water and a lot of stamina with you before you start climbing the hill to the temple
I was told that the sun-set view is great from Mullayanagiri but we missed because we reached ahead of time, and couldnt wait that long.
