This movie was much hyped for its comedy. I had read Kamal’s interviews about this movie and had high expectations. Also I had liked Kamal’s earlier comedy movies. Unfortunatley there is a massive gap between conception and execution of this movie:( The promised comedy riot turned into a whimper.
The narration is slow in the first 45 minutes. The much publicized comedy scenes are only in the last 20 minutes of the movie - though there are numerous attempts at comedy earlier in the movie but with less success in evoking laughter.
Comedy scenes around deafness have been used in many earlier movies and do not have the desired impact in Mumbai Express. The chase scene is good. Scenes at the end where the apartment builder confuses Mumbai Express with an encounter specialist are good and acted well.
The overall effect leaves much to be desired.The team could not brew the right mix.
