Munnar - nobody can describe it unless you go there and get the feeling yourself. A wonderful place to visit...
Lush green tea gardens - pleasant climate and clam surroundings make it a perfect place.
How to go :
If you are going via Cochin, take a taxi from there. Avoid using private/govt. bus because they stop at every 25-50 metres taking hell lot of time to reach there.
I dont know about other routes as I followed the same.
When to go :
Throughout the year except rainy season.
Pros:
1.A genuine place with scenic beauty... not at all crowded like Ooty/Mussorie and other hill stations.
2.Good hotels/food at reasonable rate. I would suggest Royal Retreat, which is quite affordable.
3.The hotels arrange for vehicle for local sightseeing, but the rates will be high. You can hire a vehicle directly also.
4.There is a shortcut to go to Kodaikanal and the distance will be just 60-70 kms; but the road is extremely poor. If yours is a group of youngsters, you may like to hire a jeep and go to Kodaikanal from there.
This place is still not commercialized like other hill stations.
If you are lucky enough, u can see elephants during your stay.
The place is quite calm and extremely beautiful and youll really feel Great about it.
Cons:
The transportation is extremely poor.
Language could be a problem at Cochi if you are a North Indian. Generally, people speak Tamil.
What to Carry:
Light woollen clothes are required in morning/evening even in summers.
