I visited Munnar this week ended this trip today, thought of writing something to benefit others visiting Munnar.
It took lot of time to decide if I should take direct Non-ac bus from Bangalore or take volvo/train/flight till Cochin and then taxi. finally I decided to go ahead with volvo & taxi option.
I took KSRTC volvo from Bangalore at 9 Pm and reached Cochin at 8 am. I took taxi from Cochin bus stop for munnar which took about 4 hours ( looked like an hour due to scenic places all around)). I had already booked taxi for all 4 days for about 6000( slightly negotible) for whole trip ( booked it through a guy named Kannan( KDH travels)+91-9495354508, nice guys who helped me in selecting which places to visit, which not to visit)
I stayed in hotel forest Hoven which is about 13 km away. as in its names...its in forest with a waterfall behind it.. its good to stay if u love nature. and want to relax...however away from munnar so u should not think if u dont have full time taxi. hotel guys will charge rs 400 + 100 per hour waiting time for return trip to munnar..
I really liked this hotel...however there are other good options such as abad-copper castle, issaac residency, oak field , great escape resort etc..in 3*.
next day taxi guys took me to full day sight seing and covered most of famous places..
3rd day I went to Kumarkom , we checked in at 1 PM , had lunch , dinner and night in non ac boat( paid 3750 for it). this was only mistake I made in my whole trip. I shoud have gone to the kaddy or stayed back in Munnar Kumarkom or alleppy may be good in winter but not in summer... I will rather suggest to stay in hotel or resort and take boat ride for 3/4 hours ( 350 per hour) in well known backwater..
4th day I came back to Cochin , spent some time on marine drive, took one hour boat ride...spent some time in a bad bay pride mall and back to Bangalore in Karnataka SRTC Volvo. Reached Bangalore on 5th day, working from home today and writing this review..
bye for now...
