We went to Munnar in April - getting there was the difficult part. You have to drive down from either Coimbatore or Cochin, which are the nearest railway stations / airports. We stayed at the Mahindra resorts there.
The drive is slow as the car negotiates mountainous terrain. All of that is quickly forgotten as you cross Munnar town and drive thru acres and acres of tea estates. An ocean of greenery ! Remember the Tata tea ads - they are shot in Munnar.
Mahindra Resorts is another 30-40 min drive from the town. It is right next to Sterling Resorts. The food and service there are good. The resort consists of buildings built on a slope - so the view from most rooms are great ! Plenty of fun activities organised for families and kids.
Even in summer, the visibility on the road to the resort is down to 2-3 feet, with lots of fog. A trek near the resort is like a Walk in the Clouds.
Places to visit nearby are Matupetty Dam where you can go boating, lots of tea estates and a wildlife sanctuary.
Take plenty of warm clothes when you go to Munnar. Best time to go there would be Summer.
And dont forget to take your camera !!!
