There are numerous reviews on Munnar in mouthshut but I am also tempted to write since this place deserves any amount of praise and recommendation. I feel that a trip to Munnar should definitely be on cards in everyones schedule. Let me brief you about how I set about venturing out on this trip. I had a very stressful work at office that was very demanding. I had to put a lot of thought process to ensure that things go smooth that I was perfectly tired out and was in desperate need for a perfect break! This was when I heard the mention of Munnar and how wonderful a place this is. I instantly decided to add this in my agenda for this seemed to have natural beauty as well as a unique calm atmosphere. I felt I needed this very much from the madding city noise/pollution/crowd. Having decided on the place, I set about making bookings for my travel. Flight tickets to Coimbatore/Cab arrangement during the trip/Resort booking at Sterlings. I did not want to leave anything to chance primarily because I wanted things to move smooth during my precious vacation time. Everything turned out to be perfect and worthy enough. We spent 4 days in Munnar. If you are a person who is interested in hard-core sight-seeing for moneys worth, this may not be the place to stay as long. But if you are a person who likes to enjoy the sunrise, dew drops in early hours of morning, a walk in the clouds, silence, greenery, mountains, waterfalls - in short nature at its grandeur, Munnar is the perfect choice for you. I did make a sight-seeing trip to Mattupetty dam, Echo point, Eravikulam national park, Rajmalai, Top station etc. Rajmalai is the place you should never miss on your trip to Munnar. You really are near(or even above!?) the clouds. This is one experience that you would treasure for years to come... I stayed in Sterling resorts. I felt this was the ideal place to stay in a hillstation as Munnar. You do have to drive 20Kms from Munnar to reach here but I can bet that it is definitely worth it. You would definitely not regret the decision. I booked a package(most-probably monsoon package) for 7200/- (3Nights and 4days) and this was definitely worth for all the good facilities and food that they provided us during the stay. We were initially apprehensive about getting good food there as we are not great fans of coconut oil. Sterling provided standard food like any other 3 star hotel. The courteousness of staff was also good. Munnar is famous for its Tea and Spices. Almost the entire area is TATA owned. You cant escape the numerous TATA boards everywhere. There is a special TATA outlet for selling tea/spices in the market area in Munnar. This has high standard tea/spices. It is better to buy it here than purchasing anywhere outside. There are lot of small shops that do artificial flavouring. We need to be careful and avoid those. I think Sep is ideal for making this trip since the period from Sep1st-15th still comes under monsoon (off-season rates). But the rainfall is not heavy . Also you can enjoy the mild drizzle for an hour or so in evenings. This is a ideal place for long walks/jogging. We went out everyday for long walks in mornings during our stay. It feels real fresh and heightens the soul. In short you feel rejuvenated after a trip to Munnar. Dont wait..Pack your bags..Do enjoy and write your own review!! Hope am of some help to plan your trip..
