Munnar - A dream escape

Munnar is a good option for families seeking to fit in 2 or 3 budget holidays within Kerala. The entire Munnar region was erstwhile tata Tea managed plantations. Resorts here all enjoy scenic veiws of the tea garden countryside and even in boiling April you get mist at your doorstep every morning. We stayed at Camelot, run by a local Mr. Dileep.

Its cosy and tucked away in the centre of Letchmi Tea Estate. Food is average but the staff service and the entertainment options for kids is great.... not to forget the personal attention of Mr. Dileep to each of his guests. Sightseeing in Munnar includes visits to tea estates, the tea museum (a must see), treks and trails into the hills.... but give the game parks a miss..

No animals worth seeing other than a few over grown goats. Check out the KHPL outlet for great buys in spices, tea and the best strawberry preserve this side of England. For non veg lovers, try lunch out at T&U, where for Rs. 225/- you get a sumptuous spread of traditional Syrian Christian food.. Accessing munnar is best by hiring a car from Cochin and retaining it for 3 to 4 days. Put aside a total budget of Rs. 15, 000/- to 25, -000/- for a 3 nights package for a family of 4.
