Mahesh Bhatt, Mohit Suri and Emraan Hashmi. They are more like a combo meal which every time satisfy your appetite barring crook. I loved Mohit Suri work since I watched Zeher .His movie has one plus that it keep you hooked till the end . Murder 2 is no exception.
Erotic thriller is a genre where Bhatt camp has mastered themselves. They redefine after marital affair in Arth which was alien genre at that time. They introduce smooches to Indian cinema with Phir teri Kahani Yaad ayi. Then comes Murder where they had broken many barriers with never seen before intimating scenes in’A’ grade Indian cinema. Its a myth that Bhatt camp make bold movies but truth is that they make movies on bold subjects.
Murder 2 too has a bold subject with introduction of serial killer to Indian cinema. Its not that serial killers are alien to bollywood but this movie has brought it to mainstream cinema. I have seen old movies like Shaitan, Hawas but they were low profile and loosely based . In hollywood every year we saw such kind of movies, there they put them in horror genre. Psyco, Silence of Lambs and Idnetity are some of the most prominent movie of this genre.
Plot: Murder 2 if u expect it to be it’s no way near Murder in terms of story . So its just the franchise not a sequel . Based on a disappearance of girls in Mumbai city most of them are flesh workers . A flesh trader suffering a loss as 4 of his workers were missing and he fear that this will chew his business. So he hired Arjun(Emraan Hashmi) to solve the mystery behind this. Arjun is ex-cop now working for gangsters to earn his bread. Priya(jacqueline) a model is Arjun’s love interest.
Arjun plots to catch a killer with the help of Reshma a college student working as a hooker. But she herself got trap and now its up to Arjun to get her and Priya( she also has to become the part of events as a lead actress)
Direction: Mohit Suri is not an unknown talent and has nothing to prove . He proved that he is the most promising young talent time and again . Murder 2 is no exception . His story telling and grip on pace of movie is fantastic. He never let you get bore in most part of 2.5 hr. Pace do stagnate in post interval initial 20 mins but it elevates again till the end.
Music: Bhatt camp is famous for their music since Arth to Naam to Sadak, Phir theri., Sir, Murder and many chart busters and above all they never use item no.s . Its just class we expect from their music. But as its Murder 2 sequel of one of the best album of Bhatt camp expectations are high and thats where it fails . Murder 2 has a soulful no.s but not a single stand out composition. All in all bit disapointing .
Performance: Ranking Sequence
- Prashan Narayan: I have noticed this guy in some serial and I liked his style . Than I watched chall his debut movie and expect that this man will make big . Still wondering why he is still struggling. This movie may be his rebirth . He is fantastic in role of serial killer . One of the best villianous performance of decade to me.
2.Emraan: Usual self with restraint performance . He mastered these roles of man on edge of sword . But now we should stop to call him serial kisser as he has proved again and again that he is fantastic actor and above all now he can be called a better crowd puller than many others. Better than Abhishek Bachhan in terms of getting crowd to cinema halls.
3.Sulagna: She played the role of Reshma. She was a pleasant surprise in Murder 2 . A talent if has to be in a right hand than Mahesh Bhatt is the most reliable person. She will go further.
4.Jacqueline : She is what Mallika was to Murder 2 and she do bring oomph factor like never before but performance to me by maximum is decent
Murder 2 is a very good thriller with lot of gore and violence. It can be termed as a first unofficial serial killer movie. Their are lot of bold scenes as they want to justify name Murder attached with movie. But all such things like music and bold scenes are nicely integrated so that they dont look forced. Dont watch with kids . Strictly for adults and adults should strictly go for it.
