Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant make a nice on -screen couple in this story of a failed 80s singer Alex Fletcher (Hugh Grant), living in Manhattan, whos only succesful song ever was... you guessed it... Pop! goes my heart.
Alex has been given only a few days to compose a song for aspiring teen
sensation Cora Corman (Haley Bennett). In his desperate search for a lyricist, he
comes across the slightly dippy Drew Barrymore (Sophie Fisher) with a flair for
putting random words together.
As the story unfolds, their romance brews as discover each other better as people, and not just commodities. Overall, the movie is a slow moving, comedy/romance. The comedy is not very great, and the plot is quite weak. No chemistry between Alex and Sophie. They come across more as old friends, than would-be lovers.
I dislike their used of a statue of the Buddha, as a background in the on-screen representation of a Cora Corman pop concert. Film-makers should learn how to respect others feelings and religions.
Maybe Rakhi (ding-a-ling) Sawant got ideas for her Buddha statue controversy after watching this movie.
Ok to dekko. atleast on TV/VCD. Good to. Happy watching!
