Music and Lyrics was a movie that really
suffered due to the expectations. Don’t get me wrong ... I was really excited
when the opening credits rolled with "Pop goes my heart" ... clearly
it was brilliant ... I’m even hunting for a clip of it. But alas, it was all
down hill from there.
I didn’t enjoy the on-screen chemistry between the leading pair ... and there
were more than a dozen occassions when I could have dozed off. Even my wife did
not like the film too much and she’s a raving Hugh Grant fan ...
I really liked some of the comic element got in by Chora and the entourage
and especially the harmony at the end of the live performance of "Way back
into Love". Hugh Grants character was really well done too. But the good
stuff was too few and far between.
The movie didn’t make the humour cut like
Bridget Jones or the romance like Love Actually. Could have been executed a lot
better.
