Music seems to my guiding compass this year. I have been reading up on music, seen musical instruments at museums which existed 500 years ago, and the next on my list is a biography of the music directors in Indian cinema since the last 60 years called the Music Makers
A recent article in the Afternoon Despatch & Courier made me go check out the website:
https://muzenly.com/
Really?? A travel-website dedicated ONLY to those who want to make trips especially to music concerts??
This is new to me, but it made me realise that that there is a growing breed of music enthusiasts who will follow their passion and even pitch tents at the venue to enjoy the experience of being there.... and there is a website who will cater to this breed !!
The site promises that they will help you :
Buy tickets
Find great hotel deals
Connect with festival goers
Buy an awesome tent to take with youHave a great time!
The Ragasthan Desert Music Fest is coming up and I am now convincing a bunch of friends to join me (so that I can stay in a tent there) - there are some international artists some Indo -western fusion ones and some pure Indian ones.
Didnt know theres a fest called India Bike Week in Goa!! (bikers make music? I thought they just go vroooooooom ;-) )
https://muzenly.com/festivals/india-bike-week.html
Theres also the Storm Fest in Bangalore. Apparently "The Storm festival in fact was conceptualized to initiate responsible tourism through music, by driving social awareness messages on relevant initiatives such as banning the usage of Plastics and Drugs."
Hmm..... my music education is certainly enlightening....
The website is well-equipped to fulfill the needs of the adventurous music lovers - concert passes, travel packages to suit your budget (including hotel bookings) and best of all - tents to pitch while you connect to mad souls like yourself
On the positive side - the website is focussing purely on music related travel , is easy to surf and find info. It caters to various budget-travellers and has maps to guide you there
On the flip side, only the festivals coming up in jan and feb are lined up. So if someone abroad wants to plan a trip in say May, they might have to wait. Hopefully this issue is getting sorted while I write this
Now to convince my friends to pack their bags .....
The music beckons......
