EVERYONE I know cried watching the movie My Brother... Nikhil. I cried too not just for Nikhil’s death in the movie, but also for the birth of new actor named Sanjay Suri...Few would have heard his name ...But he had already acted in movie’s like Meghana Gulzar’s ’’’’FILHAAL’’’’..
Let’s not forget that our film industry still have some hard and fast Rules about heroism...Playing a gay character and that too HIV positive was positevly suicidal....but I like to make one fact clear ’’A NEW STAR ’’ is born...
He plays Nikhil Kapoor in the movie ...He is a swimming champion in Goa His father is his coach. He is very proud of him ....Untill one day when his world crumbles & falls apart...When he gets to know he is HIV + ..He is treated badly by his state ..When they put him in a sanotorium meant for TB patients......The only supportive people left around him are his sister Anu ( Juhi Chawla )..& His friend Kohli...
JUHI CHAWALA :- I think juhi is at her best in this movie ..This is the top point of her carrear..Althought she has acted in many films ...They didnt appeal to me as this film did......
For an actor from outside the film industry choices are very limited ...no matter how gifted he is...The grand roles go to the insiders and outsiders are left with just the crumbs ..Hence Sanjay’s crummy career dotted with supporting roles in female centric films..had changed with his role in this film..
Sunjay was also denied a good role because of his lack of sex appeal...not in the bare chested ladies man way ..his appeal is far more under stated
Luckily Sanjay is Hungry not angry..He has no biterness about being neglected , No blaming the industry or talking about compromises he was to make ..This shows that he is a positive person.Almost all of his previous movies didn’t do well at the box office Ex ;- Shaadi ka Laddoo- a role similar to Saif ali khan in Hum Tum.
His character in the movie matches his real life character ( Except for the homosexual stuff )...When I see his smiling face in the movie I can understand how Sanjay Suri never became bitter.
His next movie is ’’MY BOLLYWOOD BRIDE’’’ ...Which is in post production state /..
There was a lot of public neglect towards this movie ..Especially in Southern India...Where people are quiet reserved about issues like homosexuality...When I went to see the movie....in a multi plex[ Ramba , Urvasi, Manaka] , , The theatre in which this movie was playing was quiet empty ..& People were givin me n ’ My friend some mean looks when we were waiting outside the theatre for the movie to start...Anyway Bollywood has seen a new dawn with the making of this movie...I think more directors will show interest on sensitive issues so finally Sanjay Suri gets his due....
