My Brother Nikhil is basically a narrative by a sister who tells the story of her brother Nikhil. Nikhil [Sanjay Suri] is HIV positive. This happened due to his gay tendencies but mind you this movie is not about justifying gay behaviour.
Similar to the movie Phir Milenge by Revathi, its a movie that asserts the rights of an HIV affected person in day to day life. It is indeed a true reflection of today’s situation where even the learned are indifferent.
The way people look upon HIV positive people is very shameful denying them their right to live with dignity. We know that one can contract HIV through many ways irresponsible sexual habits just being one of the reasons.
Imagine the trauma a person is going through when s/he already is aware of the short life span ahead of them. can’t they live this rest of it with some meaning? My Brother Nikhil shows very clearly the little support one gets out of his/her family as well. Worth a watch
