15 ways of experiencing absolute bliss!

I suppose this would be one of the hottest topics doing the rounds anywhere for that matter, let alone mouthshut.com. Sure enough, I had a tough time deciding which ones I should give the nod but no matter how much I tried I found it near impossible to single out a mere 10.So, I have after making numerous compromises decided to point out 15 websites close to my heart which I enjoy browsing thoroughly. However, I couldn’t bring myself to rank them as that would’ve hurt the ones who didn’t make it to the top. ;) Here come my precious 15:

Orkut.com: A very useful site which allows you to keep in touch with your friends, especially those far away from you, be part of communities that interest you, acts as a reminder for important events, as a mailbox and as a chat client as well. As far as the layout goes it has a metallic touch to it but nothing very flashy. It’s affiliated with google and is a multi-purpose serving website close to most people’s hearts.

Google.com: Well, who doesn’t know about google? It’s the website people in all walks of life turn to whenever they need to find any links to all kinds of data be it technical info, media info, website info, sports info, travel info, location info, document info –you name it, with it’s very powerful algorithm the search engine can etch out the tiniest details out of thin air regarding any subject you may have thought impossible at a point of time.

Wikipedia.org: This is again a very complete website with a mammoth database providing you information about most things you experience in your day to day life from biographies of famous people to meanings of technical and non-technical terms, to movies, plays, different phenomena. It’s a self sufficient database in itself with information available in 10 different languages with a neat layout.

Uncyclopedia.org: This website was probably made as a spoof for wikipedia.org. Like its name suggests, it gives you information about day to day events, people, objects but in an upside down manner with a totally contrary meaning to what it should be. Why even the lies aren’t devoid of heavy doses of spicy manipulation making for absolute mockery of the truth , an immensely hilarious pastime indeed! The layout isn’t all that special and rumour has it that its database has grown bigger than wikipedia! Great work by some jobless people, entertaining nevertheless.

Espnsoccernet.com: This is the place you want to be if  you are an avid soccer fan , it’ll give you information on almost any league or any player around the world and any stats regarding any football term.It gives you a provision for experiencing live commentary through ‘Gamecast’, live scores , match reports, all the breaking news in soccer and even comprehensive coverage of international football. The layout of the site is very congested but makes for attractive viewing.

Rapidshared.org: This site is simply fabulous when it comes to downloading stuff for free like a vast range of e-books both technical and non-technical, videos on various issues, music files, game , magazines and software. But, I especially love it for the quality of e-books it provides. You can even help others feel the same by uploading files of your own. That’s what the site is all about –sharing of files. A very useful site suited to people with all kinds of needs.

Imdb.com: This site standing for International movie database is a must see for all movie buffs. With comprehensive coverage of film industry personalities and movies, it also allows us, ‘consumers’ to rate the movies on their quality leading to a very reliable tracking of films. We can also write our own comments and view the same of other users. With a very attractive layout and all the latest movie news, trailers available it is a treat for all film lovers.

Cricmania.com: I know most people would go for cricinfo.com instead of this one but I prefer this for its more attractive layout and very well presented content. It is regularly updated with the latest news and data regarding players and matches which aren’t totally archaic. It may be weak in consistency of old data at times but it’s latest data most of us want and I feel there is no better place for cricket lovers in that regard.

Youtube.com: This website is all about videos of all kinds – you name it , regarding any movie , personality , bizarre ones , funny ones , music videos, animal videos , rare ones or ones not available for download anywhere else. This huge collection of videos have been slotted in vast categories so you can take your pick. Only drawback being that it doesn’t allow you to actually save it to your PC , you having to visit it everytime.

Shelldorado.com: This is my latest fascination. This is the utopic place for all Unix lovers. It has everything about scripting in different ways and in different shells, scripts , what is advisable coding practice with a huge archive of scripts slotted in different utility categories. It also has an archive of newsletters, which is updated and also gives you good insight into tips and tricks of the trade. People in this domain will surely fall in love with it at first sight!

Gutenberg.org: I don’t know the significance of the name but it’s a website where you can find really old books, some being centuries old for download in the form of zipped e-books or HTML pages. It is my greatest source of downloading classics by various authors. Like its content, the layout of the site seems to bode that old environment as well, being a shade of moribund  brown. However, it has an advanced search engine and if you like old classics or journals, explore this catalog of 19, 000 books at once!

Shrineofinsanity.com: This website is for those days when you feel totally out of control and need to do something stupid or crazy or feel funny…get what I mean? It has a huge list of crazy reviews, news , gossip , trivia making sarcasm seem normal and mockery very common. But I like it most for the section on interactive madlibs which generates a play script , totally crazy, vulgar and hilarious one based on your inputs to their questions. Avoiding laughter is not an option!

Boxofficemojo.com: This one for the movie buffs again where you can check out earnings of movies at home and abroad, its weekend collection and estimates, forecasts and where it stands on various best and worst lists available on the site. Also gives you an idea of its extent of release and also let’s us rate the films. Very informative and interesting set of stats I must say.

Footballclips.net AND Soccerclips.net: Both are equally good and pertains to soccer fans. Gives you a free option of downloading all kinds of compilation and solo football videos, highlights of famous matches , memorable , funny and strange football moments with respect to most matches and players.

No doubt many would be thinking what about mouthshut? Definitely it would rank among my best but this was a list sans that one. Everyone reading this knows about mouthshut inside out.If I have to write about it, I’ll do so separately some other time. That was my  eclectic list of  favorite websites. Hope you have a nice time browsing them!
