Some people eat to merely survive, others eat to live and enjoy foood, I simply live.. to eat!!! sadly, am a vegetarian (no eggs, even)...
ohhh but the fact that am half-gujju and half-telegu helps coz then yu like everything from north to south to east to west.... ohhhh... but I simply luve eating!!!!
my fav 10 (id luve to quote atleast 20 but then...) would be:
Pani Puri - what a snack! it is one of the greatest inventions of food to me!!! I can eat it anytime of the day anywhere all by myself... anything... just cant resist pani puri... completely adddicted to it!!!
Creamy Italian Pasta (Baked) - yyuuuuuummm - pasta (any kind), can of tomatopuree, cheese, chillies, milk, onions, chili pdr.. mix it + cook it.. then.. oven-bake it with grated cheese on top, for like 20-25 minutes, and voila! its ready to eat! :-)
Pizza - never tried it at home because when yu have Pizza hut n Dominos n Pizza Express then why on earth would yu want to try it at home man? they make the best pizzzzas and oooh the best garlic bread toooo.... their fresh salads are a must too!
Cheesy Jacket Potatoes - easy & yummmmy - yu just need potatoes, cheese, butter, pepper n salt, and a microwave/oven.. ;-)
Batata Poha - typical north indian or should I say gujju dish?? but its so amazing! tasty and doesnt add any calories, yet fills yu up!!!! good for breakfast/supper!!!
Vada Pau/ Indian Vege Burger - this is definitely one of my favs!!!! who doesnt like vada pau man? its the best anywhere in mumbai, but other parts of india also make it well... and here in dubai.. a few places manage to keep up the taste!!! a must-eat for all indians, and others too!! the spicier the bettter, what say???
Idli or Vada with Sambar and Chutney - these are absolute musts for anyone... its the most healthy way to start yur day, ideal for breakfast... idlis are v.tasty and to get the best out of it, mix everything on the idli.. the coconut chutney, the sambhar and also the reddishbrownish powder (karampudi in the south)... its awesome!!!
Sambhar/Kadhi/Daal - everyones favorite... and if yur moms making it then theres nothing like it.. good stufff... daal from any part of india is good but varies.. the gujjju kadhi is very tasty if yu know how to make it!! :-)
Tamarind Rice or Pulihora - I think thats what its called.. in the south.. but its yummmy.. yu get it as prasad in a few temples (hanuman temple) but its a very common dish in hyderabad... and its very very good for yur tastebuds!!! the groundnut (phalli) + the tamrind leave a v.good after-taste... highly recommended!
Undhiyu - a typical gujjju dish, consisting of many vegetables - beans, batata, brinjal, yam, banana (raw), methighata, onions etc - it is also very healthy and is combined with roti, hot puris, thepla, paratha, or maybe even rice.. entirely upon yur tastebuds.. must-have atleast once.. and then again n again n again.. :=)
and whatever yu eat must be digested with some accomplishments, yu know sidies - - I luve papads pickles salads (esp the gujju spl - gajar & cabbage chilly salad) and also farsaan like sev or bhujia or maybe even dhokla khandvi khakra etc etc !!!
ohhhhhhhh before I end my review, shouldnt we end our meal?????... lemmme give yu my list of the bestest sweets/desserts (the ultimate melting points of a meal) and also best drinks (non-alcoholic)!!
mithai - Mohanthal / Gulab Jamun / Doodhi Halva / Sheera / Koprapak / Fresh Fruit Salad / Malai Kulfi / Fruit Shrikhand / Falooda - available everywhere in india and outside
and like they say all good things must come to an end : finish it off with : either good masala chai or maybe cold coffee with Ice Cream or just a Masala soda!!!
hey guyyyyyyyss, am offf to eat! hope yu enjoyed reading my favs... do comment.. and if not for commenting, atleast try some of the above.. all highly highly recommended by this head-to-littletoe complete FOOD adddict!!!!!!!!!!!!
