Worth watching for only ONCE!!!

As usual, this year too, the factory of Ram Gopal Varma is coming up with lots of films. This year, there was ”D” in June, ”Sarkar” in July and now there is ”James”, coming in September. This month, in August, his “factory” has come up with the much delayed, ”My Wife`s Murder”.This film had been in news for quite sometime now and its trailers started on the T.V in March 2005, but it has finally released now. This film, was earlier titled ”Galti Se”, then it was titled as ”Murder at 2”, and now it has finally been given the most suitable title, ”My Wife`s Murder”.This film is a kind of a comeback for Anil Kapoor, in a lead role, after box-office duds like ”Musafir” and ”Bewafaa”.Another actor who makes a comeback with this film is Suchitra Krishnamoorty, who was seen with SRK in ”Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa”, many years ago. After that she never came back in a film, but now she is back with this film. With a film whose theme revolves around a murder and which brings actors who haven`t appeared in lead roles since a long time, will this film be able to attract the audiences?

Sahara One Motion Pictures in assocation with RGV film company and Anil Kapoor Productions`. ”My Wife`s Murder”, directed by Jijy Phillip, stars Anil Kapoor, Suchitra Krishnamoorty, Nandana Sen, Rajesh Tandon and Boman Irani. This film is said to be based on a true story but mostly in Bollywood, films based on true stories have not worked, in the past. Will this one work?

”My Wife`s Murder” tells us the story of Ravi Patwardhan (Anil Kapoor), a workaholic man, who works as an editor in an editing studio. After finishing his work, at late nights, he goes back to his home, where he constantly has to listen to his nagging wife, Sheela (Suchitra Krishnamoorty).Sheela is always angry with Ravi, because she thinks that Ravi is having an affair with his assistant, Reena (Nandana Sen) and that is why he comes back from the studio, late nights.Ravi has gotten used to listening to his suspicious wife saying this thing all the time, but he remains very depressed because of his wife, who is constantly fighting with him.Ravi tells Reena what Sheela thinks and Reena gets susrprised to know this.Actually, Reena is involved in a live-in relationship with her boyfriend Raj (Rajesh Tandon) and when she tells Raj that her boss` wife, thinks that she is having an affair with her boss, they both just laugh it off. That day, when Ravi gets back to his house early, and his kids have gone to school, Ravi has a serious fight with Sheela. That day Sheela behaves very rudely with Ravi and he slaps Sheela.Sheela in return slaps him too, and right after that Ravi gives Sheela a very tight slap, due to which her head hits the wood of the bed and she dies instantly.Ravi gets shocked when he finds out that he killed his wife, accidentally. When Ravi`s children arrive back from school, Ravi quickly puts Sheela`s dead body in a huge carton. When the kids go to sleep at night, he asks Reena to lend him her car.Ravi puts that carton which has Sheela`s dead body in it, at the backside of the car and goes to a jungle where he finds a river and throws the carton in it.When everyone asks him about Sheela`s whereabouts, he tells them that she has gone to meet her parents, who live in some other city. When Sheela`s parents call ravi, he tells them that Sheela was going to meet them through the train, but has been missing, since a day.Sheela`s parents get worried and they go to the police station to report about Sheela who is missing.Inspector Tejpal (Boman Irani) takes on this case.He finally manages to find Sheela`s dead body and after knowing that she had no enemy and she wasn`t even rapednor was there any injury on her body, he has a very strong doubt that Ravi, her husband must have killed her.Ravi gets worried after meeting with Inspector Tejpal and after knowing through Sheela`s father that Inspector Tejpal suspects him. Now, will the intelligent and clever Inspector Tejpal find out that Ravi killed Sheela? What will Ravi do to save himself?

Anil Kapoor shines in a role that suits him to the T.In the scenes, where he has to listen to his nagging wife, to the scene where he accidentally kills her and then in the second half of the film, where he is constantly nervous that what if the police gets to know that he killed his wife, the actor delivers a brilliant performance.

Suchitra Krishnamoorty, is there in the film for only 15 minutes, because she gets killed after that, but even in those 15 minutes, she manages to leave a strong impression on the audiences. The rude manner in which she speaks to her husband and her constant arguments with him are fun to watch, all thanks to her wonderful performance.

Nandana Sen, who was earlier seen in ”Black” and then ”Tango Charlie”, also does a very good job.Her role gets meatier in the second half, and she does full justice to it.

Boman Irani yet again proves that he is one of the most talented actor in Bollywood. As the cunning, intelligent and yet cool ‘n’ calm policeman, he is amazing and his scenes with Anil Kapoor are really very interesting.Rajesh Tandon also does a fine job.The child artistes and others also lend able support.

Jijy Phillip, who was earlier an assistant of Ram Gopal Varma, makes his directorial debut and he has managed to make an interesting film. Some scenes do manage to grip your attention. The scenes between Ravi and his wife, Sheela are interesting and the scene where Ravi accidentally kills Sheela is well executed. Then, Inspector Tejpal`s introduction in the film, takes the graph of the film upwards and the scene, where he asks Ravi some questions, privately, in the hospital, also interests the viewer. The scene where Raj tells Reena about the truth and tells her that she might also get into a problem as he used her car, is also a good one but somehow in the second half, the film drags a bit and becomes a bit boring.First of all, there was no need of adding the track of Inspector Tejpal`s small fights with his wife. Then, there was also no need of showing Reena`s boyfriend Raj suspecting in the second half, that she might be having an affair with Ravi. The climax also drags a lot with the constanting running and chasing between Ravi and Inspector Tejpal. There was also no need of showing Ravi`s son`s refusal in the jungle, to run away with him.Screenplay is fine but there are still some flaws.First of all, Sheela`s character is not well-defined.What makes her feel that Ravi is having an affair with Reena, when in actual, there is nothing of this sort?No one would suspect someone of something when there is no proof.
