Keeps u in its GRIP

Hi

One can count the number of Hindi films which manage to keep you gripped thru the entire length of the film. In My Wife’s Murder even if one logically guesses what the next sequence would be one, is gripped by the uncertainity of how it unravels itself and the way the characters deal with the situation.

MW’sM is a film which tells the story of something very real which can happen in the life of an ordinary ’person next door’s life’ . Also kudos to RGV for telling stories which are set in a middle class household. Throughout the history of hindi films one has only seen household’s which are shown having unrealistic wealth . Even movies which try to show middle class lack the detailing. RGV however has perfected this.

The film in one line is about how a man makes a mistake ’ in this case a murder’ and in the pursuit of covering it commits more mistakes. No moral judgements are passed and you find yourself sympathising and cursing Anil’s character for goofing time and again.

The winner in this film is its DETAILING, from the co-operative society where they live, to the house itself to Anil’s clothes ( that how typically an post production guy dresses), the children, the attempt to showcase a non-stereotypical inspector. Boman is shown as being a very logical officer, the pace of the film. From a technical view the screenplay, directon, dialogues, editing all are the tops.

Every actor has breathed life into the character. Anil is at his superlative best and has soaked into the character , watchout for the controlled delivery.. see how he reacts when his mother in law suggess the matter needs to be reported to the Police. Boman Irani never fails to impress, through initially I was not impressed by Nandita Sen, she catches up really well and I reckon the hindi she speaks probably is exactly the way she does in real life. Of the other characters, the children, inspector wagle ( only RGV can find such actors), Nandita’s boyfriend and suchitra’s inlaws all have done well. Suchitra is good , but she is the only DRAMATIC element in the film. But exactly why she got onto her husband’s nerves forcing him into the act.

Its one of the best films I have seen in recent times and kudos to RGV for not falling into the commercial trap and plugging in unwanted songs ( a la Mangal Pandey and his own ROAD)

Go watch My Wife’s Murder.

Happy viewing
