Ok. Its good to be back with to MS after a short break. To make things better, I am going to write about an interesting and useful internet software.
Imagine this situation. Its the T20 final. And its India Vs Pakistan. And you are stuck in your office.
Again, you are back to your house. You don’t have the Set top box installed.
What will you do?
If you are an ardent cricket follower, you will open up some cricket website and start following text scores.
Just consider this. What if you can see the match near to live time without any cost right on your Laptop / Desktop?
Its true. And thats all what I am going to write about. And its called SOPCAST.
SOPCAST is a software which will get you near to real time content of your favorite channels through the internet. You need to download a software from their website https://sopcast.com and you are all set.
You can choose from various options available . There are close to 200 channels under various categories like Sports, News, Documentary, Entertainment, Movies and importantly for me, the cricket division, besides others.
When you select a particular channel, Sopcast opens up a small screen and starts streaming the channel contents and plays it. You can have it viewed in a full screen mode . However the quality goes down. And more importantly, you can have the channel played in external players like Windows Media Player.
To add to all the good work, you can record these videos and play back later. Wow. Isn’t that wonderful?
As though its not enough, you don’t even need to register in their site to access these channels. You can login as an anonymous user and start viewing.
You can also broadcast you own channel. However, you need to register for that.
Now coming back to the T20, I had my work complete after India finished batting. I was feeling hungry and by the time I finished my snacks, Pak has already started playing. Now what do I do? If I am to go to my home, I will miss almost all the overs . I just opened up my SOPCAST software and selected the Cricket category.
A huge number of fans have already started using it. The server was very slow. So what do we do? I just asked everyone in my floor to close their sopcast viewer . We went to our meeting room and connected SOPCAST to play on the screen .
WOW, what an experience that was. As and when wickets fell there was loud cheers. We are around 30 ppl biting their nails and jumping out of chairs, coming to the edge of the chairs and what not. The experience was awesome. The delay was around 2 balls or so. So it was almost live.
The experience of watching it together was really amazing and gave more enthusiasm than watching it at home. And yes, India did win the match and the Cup.
I would definitely recommend this to everyone. Its good, near real time content and more amazingly, free.
