Please dont book any car from #myles Myles #MylesCars. Got charged a whooping 2200 Rs for a minor scratch measuring 2cm(Not worth a penalty of more than RS 500). This was apart from Rs 2000 that I paid for driving just 80 kms in Pune.
It is impossible to drive in big cities without minor scratches. We all have experienced this with our personal cars. Now if you start charging each customer Rs 2200 for each minor scratch, you can recover significant cost of the car by just charging for scratches. .
They are charging hefty amounts for each scratch from all their customers. It seems it is part of their business model to make huge profits from minor scratches. There were already 15-20 prexisting scratches all over the car and each customer is being charged amounts of 2000 and above(as told by their representatives).
Now I realized that it is better to go for Chauffeur driven 8 hour car rentals which costs about the same without any hassles and without unjustified penalty charges. With self driven myles cars you are driving a car with unlimited liability!
The catch is that they have nowhere mentioned the size of scratch in their agreement. So for even a small 1 cm scratch they will charge you anything between Rs 2000 - Rs 5000/ PER SCRATCH depending on what car and what car part it is. While driving in any overpopulated metro where vehicles run from bumper to bumper and you can never be sure to complete a trip without minor scratches. Lets say, if you take 10 trips with myles, I am sure 1-2 times you will end up with a scratch knowingly or unknowingly. In India it is so common that some naughty kid will just touch his bicycle while the car is parked and you will end up with a damage bill of Rs 2k to 5k!
In there business model end user has been given unlimited liability for even minor scratches and myles has zero liability due to their vehicle insurance. I have attached the schedule where they have mentioned cost of the damage but have not defined the degree of damage. A dent and a scratch will cost you the same!
So the learning I had with this experience with Myles car is to stay away from self driven Myles car . It is better to go for Chauffeur driven 8 hour car rentals which costs about the same without any hassles and without unjustified penalty charges.
